Baylis & Harding Funky Farm Range : A Review and Giveaway

We were sent some different products from the Funky Farm Range to try out.

Caitlyn loves bath time especially when she can put the bubbles in the bath. So with these gift sets it made it easier as I was able to let Caitlyn choose which scent she wanted. With the selection set the bottles are small so Caitlyn would empty out one bottle into the bath and felt very grown up putting the bubbles in by herself.

The jar set comes with large bottles and a sponge, the transfer on the sponge came off after a couple of uses but the bottles of bubble bath lasted us for 3-4 baths.

Our favourite scent was the berry scent as it smelt so fruity. It made the bath smell lovely and left the girls smelly gorgeous after their bath.

The gift packs start at £6 and I think they make a lovely toiletry gift.

Caitlyn’s favourite gift set was the selection pack. We have been given 2 selection gift sets to giveaway.

All you need to do is leave me a comment below saying you want to be entered.

Repechage Sea Spa Mineral Bath Bubbles Review and Giveaway

I was sent a bottle of Repechage Sea Spa Mineral Bath Bubbles to review as part of our mummy me time feature. I have to admit that I very rarely get a chance to have a bath these days but when I do, I do enjoy  having a product that makes me relax, smells divine and makes lots of bubbles.

Since being back a work my feet really hurt and often my legs ache if I have had a busy day and I find the bath bubbles really help me unwind and revive my aching limbs. I really like the smell and it stays on my skin which I like. Gizomad has been using the bubbles too when he is feeling rundown and says it really makes him feel relaxed, he also likes them as they make really good bubbles.

What we like:

  • Smells divine
  • Makes lots of bubbles
  • I like the packaging it reminds me of the sea
  • Although I feel that it is on the expensive side at £19.50 I love the way it made me feel.
The Sea Spa Mineral Bath Bubbles are available from Repechage for £19.50

We have been given a bottle of Repechage Sea Spa Mineral Bath Bubbles to giveaway.

All you need to do is leave me a comment telling me what you do to relax!

MiaMoo Review and Giveaway (closed)

We were really fortunate to have lovely weather on our little holiday to Weymouth. We made full advantage of the beach and Toby had his first paddle in the sea and his first play in the sand. The caravan site we stayed at had a lovely pool and we swam everyday. All these things are pretty standard for a UK beach holiday but being exposed to the elements and all the chemicals in swimming pool water can play havoc with sensitive skin.

As part of our travel themed reviews we were sent a travel set from MiaMoo to test and review. The set consists of miniatures of the entire range together with a flannel all contained in a little transparent pouch. This was great for me as I didn’t have to worry about remembering and packing all the bits that I would normally use on Toby.

We tried out the products every day when Toby had his bath and I was immediately struck by just how wonderful they smelled. After using them just once on him I decided I would use them on myself too as they smelled so nice! The range is based on a three step concept: cleanse, moisturise and massage which without realising it is pretty much what I do with Toby anyway so no extra work involved in reviewing the range.

Rather than repeat everything from the claims – I have added my own thoughts in italics for each individual product below:

The claims:

miamoo – the three stages of caring for baby’s skin

Did you know that theouter layer of your baby’s skin is significantly thinner than that of your own? This is why babies are so prone to irritation, rashes and can often develop dry skin issues, including eczema which is a rising issue for both babies and infant’s* . Many mums are left feeling unsure of how to best care for their child’s delicate skin; well mums, let miamoo lend a helping hand. Known for its gentle formulations, this skin-nurturing range has been developed in a way that will help care for your baby’s skin and combat dry skin issues in just 3 easy steps! (Cleanse, moisturise and massage).

This newly revamped range, created by mother of 2 and BBC TV Presenter Saira Khan, will be available in Boots from July and contains materials that when combined produce mild, gentle formulations which help to moisturise, soften and comfort baby’s sensitive skin. Miamoo products are free from synthetic colours and fragrances, parabens, sodium lauryl sulphates, mineral oil and petroleum jelly/waxes. In fact, miamoo products contain over 98% naturally derived ingredients!

Saira believes that in order to encourage healthy skin a holistic approach needs to be taken. “I believe that if parents adopt a consistent and regular routine following miamoo’s 3-steps to healthy, happy skin – cleanse, moisturise and massage – they really can transform their child’s dry skin”

Step 1 – Cleanse

Cleanse your little angel’s hair with the creamy but gentle lather of fresh locks shampoo. Bursting with lavenderand geranium this mild shampoo contains no sulphates and leaves baby’shair silky soft and shiny (RRP £6) This was a lovely shampoo, the smell of lavender was very strong making it a good night time shampoo. It left Toby’s hair reasonably soft and shiny.

Use splashy wash, brimming with lemon oil and aloe vera, for a calming soap free wash that will gently cleanse, moisturise and care for your baby’s delicate skin without dryness and irritation  (RRP £6). This smelled beautiful. I did find that I had to use quite a lot as it didn’t seem to go very far but it left Toby’s skin smelling very nice without drying it out. I would by this again as it smelled so nice but I would be tempted to use it all myself.

Spritz and wipe, overflowing with lime water & minerals, is a natural alternative for cleaning messy hands and bottoms, and can even be used as  a refreshing and cooling spritz for mummy too! It’s the perfect eco alternative to conventional wet wipes (RRP £6) I didn’t really find occasion to use this on Toby although it is probably useful to use if you have a particularly nasty nappy to clean up! I did however use it as a quick spritz cleanser while we were away and it didn’t irritate my skin but also didn’t seem to be much different to just plain water.

Step 2 – Moisturise

Jam-packed with cocoa butter and camomile, cheeky cream makes for a great nappy change moisturiser, keeping little bottoms velvety soft and smooth and can help prevent nappy rash (RRP £6) This cream was lovely, it spread easily and seemed to moisturise Toby’s bum well. I used it on the dry skin on my arms too and was impressed with the results. I think if you want to use a barrier cream then this is a nice one to choose but is probably a little pricier than others on the market.

Huggy lotion, crammed with sweet almond oil and marshmallow extract, is a great nourishing lotion that can be used top to toe on dry skin. Use daily to keep skin soft and healthy (RRP £6) A lovely moisturising lotion. A good cream to keep handy as a quick moisture boost. It absorbed well and smelled lovely. Another product I would be tempted to use myself as well as on Toby.

Step 3 – Massage

Baby massage is a wonderful way to encourage bonding with your little angel, and baba oil, infused with lavender and sweet almond oil, is just perfect to use on a baby’s back, tummy, arms and legs.   Massage also gives special and intensive care to very dry skin areas and really does transform the skin overnight. (RRP £8). Another beautiful smelling product. Rubbed in well and absorbed quickly. Toby slept really well after we massaged him with this (although Toby sleeping well is probably an awful night for most babies but hey its all relative!). One of the nicest smelling massage oils I have come across for babies.

A travel set includes adorable mini versions of the entire miamoo range, plus a soft flannel for washing baby’s delicate skin. The travel set is light and all products are under 100ml – perfect for handbags and even hand luggage for when you’re on the move! (RRP £15)

miamoo range is available at selected Boots stores from 18th July and on,,

* Eczema cases have risen by 40% y/y. According to an NHS allergy specialist this is due to an overuse of soaps and detergents that rob skin of its natural moisturising properties

I really liked this range although I do think it works out rather expensive to buy the full sizes of all the products. I would recommend the splashy wash and the massage oil – they were my favourites.

We are very lucky to be able to giveaway a travel set to one of our lucky readers all you have to do to enter is leave us a comment letting know you want to be in it to win it!

Dr Bronner’s Review and Giveaway (closed)

Dr Bronner's Group Shot High

It’s the summer holidays now and so like most families we decided to go away for a week. Since this was our first holiday with Toby we decided not to go too far or anywhere too exotic (no chance of affording that on statutory maternity pay) and so went to a lovely caravan site in Weymouth for a week.

One of the things that struck me was that I had no idea what to pack for Toby – enough cool clothes in case it was hot, enough warm clothes in case it was cold, enough bibs, food, swimming stuff etc etc the list was endless. I very quickly became aware of just how useful it was to have items that were multipurpose, ie that did more than one thing.

I was really fortunate to be offered some Dr Bronner’s liquid soap to review as a travel product. I had never heard of Dr Bronner’s products but the information I received suggested that this liquid soap was an eighteen in one product! Aha – incredibly useful when you have a car the size of mine and are trying to fit in everything you might just need. There was a range of fragrances to choose from and I opted for peppermint (I’m not sure why exactly but this just tickled my fancy at the time!)

The liquid soap came in a squeeze top bottle with a very strange label on it (I’ll talk about this a bit later). It smelled lovely – very minty and had quite a thin runny consistency. It happened to be a god send when we initially arrived at the caravan as everyone else had forgotten their shower products (I had brought along a travel sized shampoo and conditioner but not nearly enough for 8 people) and so I put the soap into the shower.

Nanna Cez used it almost straight away as a shower gel and a shampoo so we achieved two uses straight away. Nanna Cez has short hair and said it worked fine as shower gel and as a shampoo and left her skin smelling nice and fresh. Next we used it to wash up some mugs as we didn’t have any washing up liquid and although the soap didn’t foam like a detergent would (well soaps don’t foam so this wasn’t a suprise) it cleaned the dishes brilliantly although it was a little weird using minty smelling washing liquid. Next up, used as a handwash – great, did the job brilliantly. I was then absolutely astonished at how good it was at removing stains from Toby’s bibs. I used is to wash out the swimwear after swimming too. I used it to clean the surfaces in the caravan, clean some of Toby’s toys, scrub some stains out of the carpet and to wash the car windscreen before we drove home so I reckon we probably managed ten uses so I think you would have to be ultra creative to manage eighteen.

The claims:

The magic of Dr. Bronner’s is its affordability and versatility, with 18 uses from 1 bottle of liquid soap at £4.99 per 236ml bottle. Best used with a cloth, towel, loofah or sponge you can use it to clean your body, your mouth & teeth, your fruit & vegetables, your bathroom and kitchen, your clothes and even your pets! It comes in 8 main varieties, the original being the famous tingly Peppermint – “nature’s own unsurpassed fragrant Deodorant!” – followed by Lavender, Eucalyptus, Citrus, Almond, Rose, unscented Baby Mild and Tea Treewhich can even be used to treat minor cuts.

The soaps are most popular for at-home washing, but are also the soap of choice for many campers and hikers. They contain no synthetic foaming agents, thickeners, preservatives, fragrances, dyes or whiteners and use 100% post consumer recycled (PCR) cylinder bottles and paper labels. Completely biodegradable, the soaps are made with certified Fair Trade and organic ingredients sourced from India, Ghana, Palestine, Israel, and Sri Lanka.

Dr Bronner’s takes its organic credentials very seriously unlike many “natural” body care companies who masquerade their synthetically derived ingredients by using floral water as the main natural ingredient, while the functional ingredients are petrochemical derived and thus non-sustainable. The 100% Pure Castile Soap recipe used in Dr. Bronner’s soap is a simple, ecological, vegetable based formulation, named after the Castile region of Spain where olive oil soaps where invented long ago. The high foaming lather of the soap is from its high coconut oil content, which makes a more luxurious and rich lather compared to any detergent formulation commonly found even in “natural stores.” Dr. Bronner’s superfat their soaps with organic hemp and jojoba oils for a milder, smoother lather and use natural plant-derived vitamin E and citric acid to protect freshness. Apart from flavouring organic essential oils such peppermint, the base soap ingredients are Water, Saponified Organic Coconut*, Organic Palm* and Organic Olive* Oils (w/Retained Glycerin), Organic Hemp Oil, Organic Jojoba Oil, Essential Oils**, Citric Acid, Vitamin E.

The dramatic exhortations on the labels of the soap packaging come from the mind of Dr. Emanuel Bronner, a third-generation master soap maker who spent his life renouncing hate and war on a personal mission to unite mankind. He was born in 1908 to the German-Jewish Heilbronner family, which had been practicing the traditional local craft since 1858. In 1929, Bronner, then aged 21, immigrated to the US working as a consultant soap manufacturer. But following the death of his family in the Holocaust, he embarked on a mission to spread this message of world peace and the dangers of communism and fascism by giving public lectures on these subjects. His strong views landed him in a mental asylum in Chicago but Bronner escaped eight months later in 1948 and continued giving lectures in California. He also began making peppermint liquid soap under the ‘Dr. Bronner’s Magic Soaps’ brand. He gave away soap during his talks and when he realized people were taking it without listening to him speak, he started writing his philosophy on the bottle in tiny script. These eccentric labels, featuring musings on everything from Hillel to Confucious, are still used today. In the early years the soap enjoyed a small but loyal following. With the emergence of 1960’s counterculture, sales rocketed on word of mouth and the quality, as Dr. Bronner’s does not advertise. The soaps spread into health food stores across the US, and in recent years into mainstream shops.

Dr. Bronner’s is available UK nationwide including Liberty, select Waitrose stores and leading health shops including Fresh & Wild, Planet Organic and Whole Foods

Arm & Hammer My Way!™ Spinbrush–Review and Giveaway (closed)

We received My Way Spinbrush for Caitlyn and George to try.

With these toothbrushes you get to personalise you own which Caitlyn couldn’t;t wait to do. The stickers are really nice and Caitlyn proudly told her daddy that her toothbrush had princesses and rainbows on, she also likes having her name on her toothbrush. Georges stickers have cars, robots, footballs and animals.

I guess we are lucky that Caitlyn and George don’t mind having their teeth cleaned but it is always nice giving them a new toothbrush to get them excited about it.

The claims:

Unsurprisingly, children are very rarely excited by the prospect of brushing their teeth, and parents can often share their children’s anxiety by having to make sure the task is performed properly each morning and evening! The effects of bad oral hygiene can set in at any age, so getting your children into a good toothbrushing routine will give them a great chance at maintaining beautiful, healthy teeth as they grow up.

Designed to appeal to children’s love of toys and gadgets, the Arm & Hammer® My Way! Spinbrush allows kids to put the fun back into toothbrushing. Both boys and girls will love the colourful design of this battery powered toothbrush, which comes complete with customising features such as a removable head and battery cap, a unique ‘Gem’ on-off button, and over 141 decorative stickers so that your child can really make the brush their own.

Arm & Hammer ambassador, Dr James Goolnik said: “As a dentist, I know the importance of establishing a good oral hygiene regime from a young age, but as a parent I appreciate that children can sometimes require a great deal of persuasion to clean their teeth.

“The Arm & Hammer My Way! Spinbrush is a great product for parents as it appeals to children’s sense of fun, and allows kids to associate their twice-daily brush with enjoyment and playfulness. Not only does the My Way! Spinbrush ensure young teeth are given a thorough clean for healthy teeth and gums, it can also give parents a helping hand by making the all-too-often bathroom battles hassle-free.”

Most children have a full set of 20 milk or baby teeth by the time they’re three years old, with them falling out to make way for adult teeth from around five or six years old.   In order to help protect these delicate first sets of teeth, the makers of Arm & Hammer have created a brush that is as effective as it is pretty.

Studies have shown that kids brush up to 38 percent longer with the Arm & Hammer My Way! Spinbrush . So, while your children look forward to brushing with their customised My Way! toothbrush™ each night, you can rest assured their teeth are in good hands.

My Way! Spinbrush is available for £5.99 at Boots, Superdrug, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons and ASDA

What we like:

  • You can personalise it
  • Great varitey of stickers
  • Great way to encourage your children to clean their teeth

We have 2 My Way Spinbrushes (1 girls 1boys) to giveaway

All you need to do is leave me a comment telling me if you want to win a girls or boys one

Halos N Horns – A Review

Toby and Daddy are becoming baby bathing pros now. Daddy is much more efficient at getting the ‘cleaning’ part done than I am so more of bath time can be about playing and having fun. I have mentioned before that bathtime is a regular time where Toby and Daddy get to play and Mummy gets a chance to do something for herself for five minutes and so once again the perfect testers for some products we were sent to review from Halos N Horns. These products are aimed at making bathtime fun and so as you would expect they look colourful and funky on the outside and are interesting and lovely on the inside.

We tried two products from the baby range; Gentle Bubble Bath and Body Wash ( and Moisturising Lotion (

Gentle Bubble Bath and Body Wash RRP £3.49 for 250ml available exclusively at Boots (

Gentle Bubble Bath & Body Wash White

This is a nice gel that smells quite fresh compared to some other baby washes. It is Dermapaedic (I know – I wondered what on Earth that meant too!) which means it is mild, gentle, kind to eyes, suitable for sensitive skin, formulated especially for kids, not tested on animals and is environmentally sound, which is reassuring as a parent. I found that we seemed to use more of this than we would normally as it doesn’t foam very much so we had to remind ourselves not to add too much! I thought this was nice as a body wash but we did use a different shampoo for Toby’s hair as his hair didn’t seem as clean and soft with just the wash.

The claims:

Our Gentle Bubble Bath & Body Wash is sweet, scrumptious and specially made for your little angels. This hypoallergenic and non-drying wash is so gentle it can be used as a bubble bath, or an all-over hair and body wash.

Like all Halos N Horns products, we’ve made our Gentle Bubble Bath & Body Wash as mild as possible. You may notice that it isn’t quite as foamy and bubbly as some other products. Don’t worry, it doesn’t mean it’s not doing its job, it’s simply because we don’t use SLS, a foaming agent that can irritate the skin. Instead, we try to pack in as many natural conditioners and plant-derived cleansing ingredients as we can, making this hypoallergenic, non-drying wash a gentle addition to bath time.

Want to know more? Take a look at our ingredients policy to see what ingredients are in Halos N Horns and what we have taken out and why. Now you can enjoy bathing your baby with no niggling worries about what’s in the product you’re using. You put your feet up; we’re off to polish our halos!

What we liked:

  • nice fresh smell
  • attractive packaging
  • good price
  • didn’t make Toby’s eyes sore

Would be even better if:

  • it was as good on hair as it is on skin

I would use this product again as it made Toby’s skin nice and clean and fresh without drying it out at all.

Moisturising Lotion RRP £3.99 for 250ml ( available exclusively at Boots

Moisturising Lotion white

This is a lovely consistency cream that smells of baby. It has that smell that babies smell of! We used it after Toby’s bath just before he goes to bed. Toby doesn’t particularly enjoy being massaged so if he is not in the mood then it can be a bit of a battle. There are times when we just need to get some cream on him quickly – we want it to absorb quickly so we can get him dressed for bed before he really starts to moan. This cream is good for that. It is quickly absorbed and doesn’t feel sticky or greasy. It would not be good as a massage cream as it absorbs so quickly but it does moisturise effectively. I quite like to use this cream on my hands to give them a quick non-greasy moisture shot!

The Claims:

This gorgeous non-greasy Baby Moisturising Lotion is the perfect addition to your little angel’s skincare routine. Made with naturally derived moisturisers, plus Vitamin E and Sunflower Oil to protect and condition, it will leave skin baby soft.
Like all Halos N Horns products, we’ve made our Baby Moisturising Lotion as gentle as possible by avoiding some of the harsher ingredients that can irritate the skin, such as parabens. Instead, we try to pack in as many natural conditioners and plant-derived cleansing ingredients as we can, making this hypoallergenic, non-greasy lotion a gentle addition to your little one’s skin care routine.

We are dedicated to providing safe skincare for babies and children. That’s why, at Halos N Horns we recommend avoiding all skincare products for the first month of life

What we liked:

  • nice ‘baby’ smell
  • attractive packaging
  • no nasties
  • gentle but effective

We liked the Halos N Horns products and would use them again.

Koeka Venice Shawl–A Review and Giveaway by Toby and Daddy (closed)

Toby and his daddy have been loving doing their product reviews during their daily bath time. One of the most difficult thing about bath time is actually getting baby out of the bath when they are a wet wriggly slippery worm! This can be particularly nerve wracking for dads who are nervous about bathing baby (although Toby’s daddy is now a pro!) and so a product that aims to make this part of bathing easier is definitely worth a try!

Koeka Venice Shawl towel - fuschia - product

We were lucky to be sent a Koeka Venice Shawl baby towel. I was interested to try this with Daddy as it seemed like such a sensible invention – if you can reduce baby’s movement by keeping their legs in one place then it should make carrying them easier and I really think the towel was pretty good at making carrying a wet Toby easier.

The claims

Sometimes nature knows best.  With this in mind, the Koeka Venice Shawl Baby Bath Towel borrows one of nature’s best designs – the kangaroo pouch – and translates it into a novel design feature that creates the ultimate cosy and cocooned environment for b a baby to enjoy after their bath and the optimum secure and safe carrying experience for their parents.

The innovative Venice Shawl towel is star shaped with a hooded head and giant kangaroo pocket at the base.  These ingenious twists on the classic baby bath towel give some unique benefits.
Unique product benefits

·         The hooded head ensures that baby’s head – the part of the body that loses most heat – stays warm and protected after a bath

·         The wide star shaped side flaps lie one on top of each other over the baby to create an instant cocoon of cosiness that babies’ relish after their bath

·         While the giant kangaroo pouch ensures that baby can be as snug as a joey with their feet tucked in reassuring warmth and dryness, rather than left dangling outside of the towel to get cold.  The ingenious kangaroo pouch also helps ‘anchor’ baby in a secure position.  This helps younger babies feel secure in their parents arms and helps stop older, stronger babies from wriggle in their parents arms which when wet can be dangerous

What we liked:

  • less movement when baby tightly wrapped so easier to carry
  • also good for swimming when carrying baby from pool to changing room
  • towel had a good absorbency
  • good for nervous dads
