February 2012 archive
Most babies and toddlers have some form of comfort, my girls are no different. We were sent a NayNay Issie from the gorgeous company aden + anais.
The magical feel of a soft security blanket is both comforting and soothing to newborns and toddlers alike. We are sure our issie™, made of gentle, breathable muslin and lined with silky satin, will become one of your child’s most cherished simple pleasures. And like all aden + anais® products, the issie™ is playfully designed in our exclusive, modern prints to bring together comfort and style.
Ellie loves the issie, she has been using it as a comfort blanket since we got it. It has been a godsend as Ellie always used to pinch her sisters blanket. I think Ellie likes the silky satin the best. We are glad it came in a pack of 2 as I have a spare. The nay nay pattern as in the picture is beautiful. We love the issie.
The issie costs £15.95 which I think is a fair price for something that gives your child comfort.
We have been given a great competition for you guys.
We have a Bamboo swaddle, A swaddle Love book and an Issie to giveaway to one lucky reader.

Nicola and I are both at different stages of potty training with Florence and Ellie. Florence is doing really well and using the potty all the time while Ellie is learning how to use the potty. So it was great to try the Pourty as we could see how it coped with the different stages of potty training!
We were sent the gorgeous purple Pourty
I was looking forward to trying the Pourty purely for the fact that it is easy to empty and clean. Potties I have tried in the past can be so difficult to empty that I dread empting it.
The brilliant new Pourty Potty is comfortable for boys and girls and much easier to empty and clean than a normal potty.
The Pourty potty won Best New Product to Market 2010/11 and is consistently rated 5/5 in potty reviews for quality, value for money and ease of use. Its features include:
- wider flatter seating area which boys and girls find more comfortable to sit on than normal potties
- high splash guard and deep bowl giving boys plenty of room while preventing pee escaping over the front of the potty
- unique hygienic pouring duct in the back rest so that parent or child can pour the pee and poo out of the back away from where the child sits or touches
- anti-drip lip to prevent unpleasant dribbles and mess down the outside of the potty
- sturdier plastic than most potties giving toddlers and babies more confidence that the potty will hold them.
The Pourty potty is perfect for potty training children from 12 months to 4 years’ old.
What we liked:
- The fun factor as the bright bold colour appealed to both Ellie and Florence
- The ease of emptying and cleaning
- The price at £9.99 it really is value for money
- It is really sturdy so Ellie who is 16 months can get on and off the Pourty without tipping it over
- Both Ellie and Florence are still using the Pourty as their main potty
- Come in several colours : Pink, Blue, White and Purple
What could be better
- Only have one niggle and that is with every potty I have used is that it is light enough for Ellie to pick it up after she has used it.
You can get Pourty online at amazon
One lucky reader can win a Pourty of their choice.

Emma Talbot, the fresh, new face in the illustration industry , has been snapped up by John Crane Ltd.
This year will see all the new Tildo toys from John Crane Ltd featuring Emma’s illustrations.
We were sent a gorgeous limited edition print which are numbered 1-40 we were excited to receive number 8! We are going to frame it and put it on the wall in Caitlyn’s room as she likes pandas. Who knows one day it may even become an collectors item.
We will be eagerly looking out for the new products with Emma’s illustrations on.
Thank you John Crane Ltd for sending us the print.
With Valentines Day coming up many a husband is thinking about what to get their wife. As a new mum it is lovely to receive a gift that you will be able to make use of within your new all consuming identity as a mother.
A fantastic gift in my opinion is a stylish and practical change bag.
I was very fortunate to receive a Yummy Mummy Changing Bag from Pink Lining to review (http://www.pinklining.co.uk).
The bag arrived and I have to say when I got it out of the box I squealed with excitement. It was beautifully wrapped in pink tissue paper and was a really lovely pattern both inside and out.
The bag comes with a changing mat (which is really nicely padded and much better than others I have used), a little mirror (which to be honest I haven’t used much), a wet bag for wet clothes etc, two insulated bottle pockets and a variety of other pockets in which to store wipes, nappies and everything else you can think of packing. There are also pockets on the outside for carrying snacks / cups and little bits and pieces which are extremely useful.
The bag is quite slim and initially I was worried it wouldn’t hold everything I was used to carrying. Toby doesn’t travel light as I always need a load of nappies as well as a change of clothes, food, snacks, cup etc etc etc. The bag is a bit like a tardis and holds loads of stuff! It was much easier to carry on the handle of the buggy than my old change bag as it is less bulky and I have to say I was very proud to have it on the buggy. It is girly but not so girly that my husband is embarrassed to use it and is pretty enough to not feel like you need different bags all the time. The outside is wipe clean and even after loads of use it still looks brand new.
I am now totally in love with the bag and would definitely recommend it to my friends.
The only down side is it is obviously a change bag. This isn’t and wouldn’t be an issue for me but I know some people like to have a change bag that looks like a normal handbag (albeit a large one).
Yummy mummy changing bags can be purchased directly from pink lining and have an RRP of £75. They regularly have bags on sale so its definitely worth a regular check of their site.
Big thumbs up from me!
I was sent a lovely selection of Valentines themed choccys and sweets from Thorntons. Bad timing, as I’m desperate to shift my baby weight so I took them along to my mummy lunch get together where it didn’t take much convincing for them to help me to try them out.
I was sent –
Milk Chocolate Heart Shaped Lollipop. 99p
“Love Rocks” Strawberry Heart Shaped Sweets. £1
Chocolate “Cheeky Devil”. £2.49
“I Love You” Chocolate Cups. £2.99
From a chocolate lovers point of view, these items are lovely as they are reasonably priced token Valentines gifts but not the yummiest tasting chocolate. However some people love Thorntons chocolate.
We all loved the “Love Rocks” sweets and they were only 35 calories per sweet so we all had a guilt free moment! Very tasty and such a cute little gift.
The Cheeky Devil was maybe aimed at the younger/teenage market so not something I would buy.
I thought the “I Love You” cups were so sweet and there is a larger option which can be personalised. This is a lovely idea and nice if you want to get personalised items from your kiddies to their mummies and daddies.
We love Love Hearts in The Scrummy Mummy household.
We were kindly sent the limited edition mini love hearts and mini love heart tubes to try. We loved them and Caitlyn especially loved the fact that they were mini.
We have 4 lots of the limited edition mini Love Hearts in the gorgeous tin and 4 tubes of mini Love Hearts Rolls.
So for your chance to win 1 of the prizes all you need to do is leave me a comment below.

Today I received this beautiful set of hair products which I couldn’t have been more excited and desperate to use! I’m currently sporting what can only be described as my “mum of two” hair and products like dry shampoo have all of a sudden become part of my routine rather than only being used at festivals!
THE MACADAMIA CANTEEN GIFT BOX INCLUDES:
1 x 4.2oz Healing Oil Treatment
1 x 3.3oz Rejuvenating Shampoo
1 x 3.3oz Deep Repair Masque
1 x Oil Infused Comb and a FREE Macadamia Canteen Case
Each canteen provides a complete hair care regime to cleanse, condition and maintain beautiful, healthy and shiny hair.
When opening the package I was wowed by the beautiful Canteen Case the products came in and providing Florence doesn’t demand to have it, I will definitely be using it as a bag.
I was lucky enough to have a 3 hour window in-between feeds this week where I was child free so enjoyed having a pamper. The products are aimed at dry damaged hair so I tried out the rejuvenating shampoo and the deep repair masque. Firstly it smells amazing. The shampoo didn’t lather so ended up using more than I usually would and I’ve only got shoulder length hair.
I loved the repair masque. Really thick so once combed through felt like it was really doing its job and moisturising my hair.
Final results- My hair was easy to brush and style. It also made my hair perfectly straight and for blonde hair, it made it a bit more shiny than usual. Only problem was my hair is really fine so I can imagine using this regularly, my hair would get greasy as the products are quite heavy.
Expensive but lovely as a treat and the products really do make your hair smell amazing!
